Mulligan the Police Dog: A Bed Time Story

Mulligan the Police Dog

Mulligan was a fiery police dog. Thieves, robbers and bandits shook their boots when they saw Mulligan patrolling the streets of Huskerville. He showed his teeth and growled at them. Now, the butterflies had a special liking for Mulligan. They loved him and Mulligan loved them too. Wherever Mulligan went, the butterflies followed him. Huskerville was filled with butterflies. The citizens complained to the police, “There are too many butterflies in this town. We have to get rid of Mulligan.” So Mulligan was removed from service. But as soon as he left, the thieves and robbers became nastier. They robbed people, scared them and kidnapped little kids. People were worried and an emergency meeting was called. “Bring back Mulligan,” demanded one man. “We can bear those butterflies but have to get rid of the criminals,” said another man. Soon Mulligan rejoined service and the criminals fled Huskerville. However, the butterflies were back again, but this time they had many more admirers.
