A Class Test

A Class Test

On a bright Monday morning, Madam Elephant declared that she would hold very difficult test in the following week. She also said that the one who scored the last would be punished. The class shuddered at this declaration. Tortoise, Crocodile and Monkey started planning the way they would study for the test. Hare just sat in one corner, lazily munching on a carrot. As usual, he was overconfident.

“Oh, I will study for everything in one day,” he boasted, “You just wait and watch.”

The night before the test, Hare lay awake all night to study. But he found it difficult to study everything in such a short time. He panicked and got confused, but stayed up, hopping from one lesson to another.

Finally, it was the day of the test. Tortoise, Crocodile and Monkey began writing. They looked very happy because they knew the answers to most of the questions, but Hare hadn’t slept a wink the previous night. Alas, five minutes into the test, Hare fell asleep and eventually failed the test.

Moral: "Pride comes before a fall."
